Elevated lead levels
were also detected in the samples collected.
On June 30, 1993, three USTs were removed and 8 samples were collected at 9 feet bgs.
Soil contamination was evidenced in samples collected from all three tanks and from the
stockpiled soil. A water sample was collected from the tank pit that indicated
groundwater contamination.
On June 13, 1993, the stockpiled soil was re-sampled and contamination was detected in
the samples collected from the prior stockpiled soil but not from the newly stockpiled
soil. The stockpiled soil was subsequently moved to 2480 Toste Road for aeration.
PHS/EHD has not received the results of confirmation sampling and was not notified of
the sampling event. In the future, please be aware that site inspections, including
sampling events, are an important aspect of local regulatory oversight. Please provide 48
hours notice prior to sampling so PHS/EHD staff can witness the sampling.
On January 5, 1994, five soil borings were drilled and sampled, three of which were
converted into monitoring wells, B1/MW1, B2/MW2, and B4/MW3. Soil contamination
was detected in B1 at 5 and 10 feet bgs, B2 at 10 feet bgs, B3 at 5 feet bgs, and 135 at 5
feet bgs. The drill cuttings are reportedly stockpiled on site pending disposal. PIease
provide disposal documentation and/or information regarding soil disposition.
A Dhision of San joaquin County Health Care Service,,
