6ETTLER - RYAN INC.
Mazda 4, 1996
Mr. Brett Hunter
Chevron USA Products Company
P.O. Box 5004
San Ramon, California 94583
Subject: Letter Report for Well Abandonment at Former Signal Oil Service Station#221-5, 5431
West Grant Line Road, Banta, California.
Mr. Hunter:
At the request of Chevron USA Product Company (Chevron), Gettler-Ryan Inc. (G-R) abandoned three
groundwater monitoring wells at the subject site(Figure 1). On March 4, 1996, G-R observed Bay Area
Exploration, Inc. (C57 522125) abandon groundwater monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-3. The
location of the former wells are shown on the attached Site Plan (Figure 2). The well abandonment
permit issued by San Joaquin County Public Health Services (SJCPHS) is attached.
Each 2-inch diameter well was pressure-grouted with neat cement to the total depth of the well with
approximately 25 to 30 pounds per square inch (psi) of pressure applied at the top of each well for
approximately 5 minutes. After pressure-grouting, each wellhead box was removed and the upper 2 feet
of casing was overdrilled with 8-inch diameter hollow stem augers. The borehole was then grouted to
surface grade with neat cement. All debris was removed from the site at the end of the well abandonment
activities. Ms. Mary Meays of the SJCPHS was onsite to observe well abandonment activities.
The wells have been properly abandoned as required. If you should have any questions, please call our
G-R in our Rancho Cordova office at (916) 631-1300.
Sincerely,
Gettler-Ryan Inc.
Greg A.
