Ham Ln.,Lodi, CA"
Dear Mr. Najera:
On Friday, April 12, 1996, I received analytical results from soil samples that were obtained from beneath
the former underground fuel storage tanks, as well as,from within the proposed location for the new
underground storage tanks. These same results were transmitted by facsimile to Harlin Knoll and Eric
Trevena both, of the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Agency. On Monday, April 15, 1996, I
received a telephone call from Harlin Knoll. I discussed the soil results that were transmitted to him and
proposed to use the soil excavated from the new underground tankpit as backfill material for the former
tank-pit. I also explained that Chevron would not be conducting any overexcavation of the former tankpit
prior to backfilling. He understood and agreed with the proposal.
j In light of the above information, Chevron hereby authorizes Fillner Construction to backfill and compact
(close) the former underground fuel tankpit with soil excavated from the proposed new tankpit location. a
Furthermore, any soil from the new tankpit location that is in excess of that required to close the former
fuel tankpit shall be stockpiled separately on site for use as backfill in the former used oil tankpit.
If further information is required, please contact me directly at(5 10) 842-8695.
At—
Sincerely,
Brett L.
