LOWNEVASSOCIATES
Environmental/Geotecnnical/Engineering Services
s
i,
November 4, 1993
500-113A, MV110206
i
Ms. Susan Scheib RE: SOILQUAI=EVALUATION
FIRST NA'T'IONWIDE BANK WEST LANE PLAZA
33 New Montgomery Street, 7th Floor STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
San Francisco, California 94105
I
ij
Dear Ms. Scheib:
As requested, we are pleased to present this report summarizing our soil quality
reconnaissance at the above-referenced site. This investigation was performed in
accordance with our proposal dated September 24, 1993 and included the drilling
t" of three exploratory borings adjacent to an underground waste oil storage tank
located on-site. Reportedly, this tank was installed during construction of the on-
site buildings in the early 1980s.
}. Analysis of a soil sample collected near the rank at a depth of approximately
11 feet did not detect petroleum hydrocarbons or halogenated volatile organic
compounds. In addition, no soil discoloration, petroleum odors, or elevated
organic vapor meter readings were noted during drilling. Based on these data,
the tank does not appear to have significantly impacted underlying soil quality.
However, due to the age of the tank and its presumed single-walled steel
. construction, consideration should be given to removing the tank per the
appropriate closure regulations.
We refer you to the text of the'
report for details regarding the site activities and
recommendations. If you have any questions, please call.
Very truly yours,
LOWNEY ASSOQATES i?
i
i
• V w
Belinda VJPeters Ron L.
