Per our phone and face-
to4ace:conversations,: t.was.agreed that direct loading and transportation of hydrocarbon
impacted.soils,to Forward Landfill was acceptable to your agency. The soils will be
properly characterized and profiled for direct disposal at this landfill by using analytical
results from samples collected beneath the former underground storage tanks.
Tosco's current plans are to have the contractor load soils from the tank pit directly onto
trucks supplied by DenBeste Transportation, Incorporated starting Monday morning,
February 9, 1998. I anticipate that approval for disposal will be obtained by Monday,
thereby avoiding any need to stock pile soil at the landfill. It is estimated that 500 yards
of soil will be transported to Forward for disposal.
i If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please contact me at (510) 277-2335. 1
look forward to working with you on this case.
Sincerely,
Regional.EnvironmentalManager
cc : Steve Guin, Construction
File 2705447 : 3
1
E '
