MAY 2 2 2003 <br /> EI'`s\lr,jNfAEN I F,EALTH <br /> PERMIT/SERVICES <br /> May 19, 2003 <br /> Mr Harlin Knoll 11191 <br /> San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department 06 a3 <br /> 304 East Weber Avenue <br /> Stockton, California 95202 <br /> Re: Monitoring Well Installation Report and Second Quarterly Monitoring Report <br /> Former BP Service Station#11191 <br /> 1469 East Hammer Lane,Stockton, California <br /> Dear Mr Knoll <br /> URS Corporation Americas (URS) has prepared this report on behalf of Atlantic Richfield Company <br /> (ARCO) to document the installation of one on-site and two off-site groundwater monitoring wells at <br /> the former BP Service Station #11191 located at 1469 East Hammer Lane in Stockton, California The <br /> purpose of this work was to install groundwater monitoring wells to evaluate the lateral extent of <br /> gasoline hydrocarbons down-gradient (south) of the ARCO service station and to evaluate the vertical <br /> • extent of petroleum hydrocarbons at the source area as requested by the San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD) in an August 5, 2002 telephone conversation The <br /> monitoring wells were installed as described in the Cambria Environmental Supplemental Investigation <br /> Workplan dated June 21, 2002, URS Supplemental Investigation Workplan Addendum dated October 9, <br /> 2002, and the URS letter to your office dated February 24, 2003 <br /> SITE BACKGROUND <br /> The site is an active 76-branded gasoline retail outlet located at the northwest corner of the intersection <br /> of Hammer Lane and West Lane in Stockton, California (Figures 1 and 2) BP acquired the site as a <br /> gasoline retail outlet from Mobil Oil Corporation in 1991 In 1994, BP transferred the gasoline retail <br /> outlet to TOSCO Marketing Company (TOSCO)and has not operated the facility since that time <br /> The site is located in a infixed commercial and residential area A restaurant and parking lot are located <br /> north and northwest of the site A strip mall is located across West Lane to the east, a bank and <br /> restaurant are located across Hammer Lane to the south, and a vacant commercial building is located to <br /> the west of the site <br /> Mosher Creek is located approximately 1/2-mile north of the site A June 18, 2001 SJCEHD letter <br /> indicated that a recently installed City of Stockton water supply well (well 3-2) is located approximately <br /> 2,000 feet to the south of the site at 7400 West Lane Frontage Based on information from the <br /> URS Group Inc <br /> Crown Corporate Center <br /> 2870 Gateway oaks Drive Suite 300 <br /> Sacramento CA 95833 <br /> Tel 916 679 2000 <br /> Fax 916 679 2900 <br /> ti <br />
