We identified in some sections of the DEIR some discrepancies regarding the number and diameter of the former Shell pipelines,as well as information regarding pipeline sections that were removed versus abandoned in-place.'To address the discrepancies,CRA provided the following comment: "According to the historical records that have been reviezoed,an 8-incl:diameter pipeline and a 10-inch diameter pipeline were originally installed within the easement. These t700 former Shell pipelines zoere abandoned in the late 1960's or early 1970's.Portions of the pipelines Toere removed at or around the th ae the lines 7oere abandoned;other portions were abandoned in place. One abandoned segment on the site zaas removed in or aboaat 2001. Other portions may remain in place." Based on subsequent discussions with Tony McCants from Kier&Wright Civil Engineers & Surveyors,Inc.,we recognized further clarification of this comment was necessary. Other than the section that was removed during 2001 in anticipation of the development,the information we have been able to obtain regarding the pipe sections that may have been removed or abandoned in-place is based on the enclosed Y-551 map and referenced details. Because the lines were abandoned in the late 1960s or early 1970s,however,and in some cases, the lines were sold or quit claimed back to the property owners,it is possible that some sections of the abandoned lines may have been removed without notice to Shell. Based on the Y-maps, however,the following portions of the pipeline may remain where they were abandoned in place.
