The well dstruction permit, approved by San Joaquin <br /> County Environmental Health Department (SJEHD), is included in Attachment A. <br /> SITE BACKGROUND <br /> The site is an operating Chevron service station located in a commercial area of Stockton, <br /> California. The current station facilities include three dispenser islands under a canopy, two <br /> gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs), and a station building/McDonald's restaurant. <br /> WELL ABANDONMENT ACTIVITES <br /> On May 20 and 21, 2002, monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-3 were destroyed by <br /> Cascade Drilling Incorporated of Rancho Cordova, California, a state-licensed well driller. <br /> Well destruction activities were observed by a SECOR representitive. The groundwater <br /> monitoring wells were destroyed in accordance with San Joaquin County requirements and <br /> Bulletin 74-90: California Well Standards, California Department of Water Resources, June <br /> 1991. The three monitoring wells were abandoned by first pressure grouting (30 psi) the <br /> wells from the bottom up using a tremie pipe with Portland type IM neat cement, the wells <br /> were then excavated around the outside of the well box approximately tweleve inches wider <br /> than the well box. The wells were then drilled out around the well casing to approximately <br /> three feet below ground surface (bgs) with the well casing being cut off six inches above the <br /> bottom of the excavation and removed.
