(ADR) is pleased to present this work plan to perform a
subsurface investigation at the former Winston Tire Store (see Plate 1) located at the above
referenced address (subject Property). This work includes the drilling and collection of
subsurface soil samples from selected locations at the subject Property for laboratory
analysis.
Background
The subject Property has been associated with Winston Tires automotive tire repair and
sales activities since the early 1990s. ADR understands that Winston Tires vacated the
property in September of 2002. Based on the historical usage of the subject Property a
potential exists that the site has been impacted by past releases of hazardous materials into
the subsurface soils. A subsurface soil investigation was recommended by ADR to assess if
the past practices or releases have environmentally impacted the site.
Scope of Services
The work described in this work plan is intended to assess the presence or absence of
petroleum constituents, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and selected metals at strategic
locations underlying the subject Property. The proposed scope of services is not intended to
delineate the extent of contamination, if any. The intended scope of services is outlined
below.
Task I: Prepare a site Health and Safety Plan for the project. As part of this task, ADR will
also contract with accredited laboratories, submit required permits and schedule field
activities.
Task II: ADR will, advance soil borings (Plate 2) at the following locations: five boring will
be drilled to 15 below ground surface (bgs) in the area of the hydraulic lifts, three soil
borings will be advanced to 20 feet bgs in the vicinity of the former oil/water separator, and
one soil boring will be drilled to 5 feet bgs next to the garage floor drain. To minimize soil
wastes, the borings will be advanced using direct push methods. Soil samples will be
collected at 5-foot or less vertical intervals from each boring. Recovered soil samples will be
Due D111gence and Risk Management Services Nationwide
