The strongest contamination is present in wells 3 and 5.
3. Changes in water conditions, particularly the appearance
of free product in well 5 may be related to the
declining water table which has dropped over 4 feet
since February.
4 . Other possible factors in the distribution of
hydrocarbons include the presence of other potential
sources nearby ( thy; other 3 corners of Hammer and
- Paoific formerly had gas stations) , and past shifts in
groundwater gradient direction.
4.4 Conclusions
Shallow groundwater in the vicinity of the Knowles property has
been impacted by gasoline hydrocarbons. At present this extent
and all possible sources are unknown.
5.0 References
San Joaquin County Flood Control & Vater Conservation District,
Fill 1987, Semi Annual Groundwater Report.
San Joaquin County Flood Control & Water Conservation District,
Spring 1989, Semi Annual Groundwater Report.
2
