Hammer Lane
Stockton, California
Dear Margaret:
•,! First, my apologies this workplan has taken a while to get into your hands. John Lane,
Leslie Huffman and I have spent countless hours researching the best methods of
remediation for the Knowles property site based on my client's needs and those of the
regulators. As a result of our meeting December 21, 2005, 1 have outlined in this
package the steps deemed necessary to clean-up the site at 1140 W. Hammer Lane,
Stockton, California.
f
+- Due to the historically high contamination concentrations in Monitoring Well 5 (MW5)
we have devised a plan for clean-up that we believe will accomplish the needs of
regulators and Carl Knowles, Trustee of the Harold Knowles irrevocable trust.
As it relates to MW5, in a January 25, 2005 letter to Mr. Carl Knowles from you, it was
outlined that groundwater in sand at 95-98 feet below ground surface should be sampled
and analyzed to demonstrate the vertical extent of impacted groundwater in the area of
MW5. As a result of this recommendation, we have agreed to perform this and will use
the information as a benchmark study for future remediation.
If results from this sampling are what we anticipate then we will plan to move forward
with a pilot project that is a more aggressive method than the traditional pump and treat
remediation. In consultation with Ground Zero Analysis, Inc., we have determined that
J we will use the in-situ oxidation as a method of remediation as it is more cost-effective
c
