The air sparge system is set up to sparge air
to sparge well SW-1. It is expected that air sparging will be initiated in third quarter 2005.
The VES reporting period for this report is March 3 to June 23, 2005. The VES operated for a
total of approximately 85 days from March 3 to June 23, 2005. Influent and effluent vapor
samples were collected on March 4, April 20, May 5, May 19 and June 2, 2005. Analytical
reports are contained in Attachment C. Vapor extraction system data are summarized in Table
2.
The VES was shut in on June 23 due to blower electrical problems. The average influent flow
during the first quarter was approximately 114 standard cubic feet per minute. Approximately
5810 pounds of TPHg and 58 pounds of benzene were removed by the VES through the end of
the second quarter reporting period.
Recommendations
As part of an additional subsurface investigation, Horizon installed off-site groundwater
monitoring wells MW-9 and MW-10 and on-site monitoring wells MW-11, MW-12 and
MW-13 during fourth quarter 2004. The report of the additional subsurface investigation is
in preparation.
