HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC.
Specialists in Site Assessment,Remedial Testing, Design and Operation
March 30, 2005
Mr. Rob Fishburn
UItramar Inc.
685 West Third Street
Hanford, California 93230
Subject: Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report
First Quarter 2005
Beacon Station No. 3641
1210 East Hammer Lane, Stockton, California
Mr, Fishburn:
Horizon Environmental Inc. (Horizon) has prepared this report which documents results of
first quarter 2005 groundwater monitoring at the subject site located in San Joaquin County
as shown on Figure 1. There are twelve groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-
7 and MW-9 through MW-13), eight vapor wells (VW-1 through VW-8) and one sparge well
(SW-1) associated with the site (Figure 2). The off-site monitoring well MW-8 was
destroyed in April 2003. Monitoring wells MW-9 through MW-13 were installed during
fourth quarter 2004 and shall be included in the quarterly monitoring program starting second
quarter 2005. The wells are sampled according to the program contained in Attachment A.
Groundwater Monitoring
Groundwater monitoring activities were conducted by Doulos Environmental Company
(Doulos) on March 3, 2005 according to Ultramar Field Procedures (Attachment A).
Monitoring activities included measurement of static groundwater level, purging groundwater
from the wells, collection of groundwater samples, and preparation and delivery of the
samples to the analytical laboratory.
The depth to groundwater was measured to the nearest 0.01 foot from the top-of-casing
(TOC) in monitoring wells MW-I through MW-7, sparge well SW-1 and vapor wells VW-1,
VW-3, VW-5 and VW-7. Vapor weds VW-2, VW-4, VW-6 and VW-8 were dry. The
physical parameters conductivity, pH and temperature of the groundwater were monitored
with field instrumentation during the purging process. The visual characteristics of the
groundwater were also noted during the purging process. Field groundwater level and purge
data were recorded on the Doulos Groundwater Level Data and Sampling Information Sheets
(Attachment B).
Groundwater samples were collected from the wells MW-I through MW-7, SW-1 and VW-1,
VW-3 and VW-7. The groundwater samples were submitted, under chain-of-custody
s documentation, to Kiff Analytical (Kiff), a California-certified analytical laboratory (ELAP
No. 2236) located in Davis, California and were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as
4970 Windplay Drive,#C5 • EI Dorado Hills,CA 95762 • (916)939-2170 • FAX(916)939-2172
PO.Box 5283 • Bakersfield,CA 93388 (661)589-8389 • FAX(661)589-1456
