< HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL I <br /> Specialists in Site Assessment Remedial Testing, Design and Operation U <br /> 0 C T 2 8 2003 <br /> October 8, 2003 ENVIRONMENT HEALTH <br /> Mr Joe Aldridge PERMIT/SERVICES <br /> Ultramar Inc <br /> 685 West Third Street <br /> Hanford, California 93230 <br /> Subject Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report <br /> Third Quarter 2003 <br /> Beacon Station No 3641 <br /> 1210 East Hammer Lane, Stockton, California <br /> Mr Aldridge <br /> Horizon Environmental Inc (Horizon) has prepared this report which documents results of <br /> third quarter 2003 groundwater monitoring at the subject site located in San Joaquin County <br /> as shown on Figure 1 There are seven groundwater monitoring wells (MW-I through MW- <br /> 7), eight vapor wells (VW-1 through VW-8) and one sparge well (SW-1) associated with the <br /> site (Figure 2) The off-site monitoring well MW-8 was destroyed on April 11, 2003 because <br /> of road construction on Hammer Lane <br /> Groundwater Monitoring <br /> Groundwater monitoring activities were conducted by Doulos Environmental Company <br /> (Doulos) on September 19, 2003 according to Ultramar Field Procedures (Attachment A) <br /> Monitoring activities included measurement of static groundwater level, purging groundwater <br /> from the wells, collection of groundwater samples, and preparation and delivery of the <br /> samples to the analytical laboratory j <br /> I <br /> The depth to groundwater was measured to the nearest 0 01 foot from the top-of-casing <br /> (TOC) in monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-7 and sparge well SW-1 Vapor wells VW-1 <br /> through VW-8 were dry The physical parameters conductivity, pH and temperature of the <br /> groundwater were monitored with field instrumentation during the purging process The <br /> visual characteristics of the groundwater were also noted during the purging process Field <br /> groundwater level and purge data were recorded on the Doulos Groundwater Level Data and <br /> Sampling Information Sheets (Attachment B) <br /> Groundwater samples were collected from the monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-7 and <br /> sparge well SWA The groundwater samples were submitted, under chain-of-custody <br /> documentation, to Kiff Analytical (Kiff), a California-certified analytical laboratory (ELAP <br /> No 2236) located in Davis, California and were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as <br /> gasoline (TPHg), the volatile aromatic compounds benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total <br /> 5011 Golden Foothill Parkway, Suite 7 * EI Dorado Hills CA 95762 * (916) 939-2170 * FAX (916) 939-2172 <br /> P 0 Box 5283 • Bakersfield CA 93388 (661) 589-8389 * FAX (661) 589-1456 <br />
