HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC. <br /> �■' Specialists in Site Assessment Remedial Testing,Design and Operation <br /> �r <br /> August 2, 1996 <br /> t <br /> AUG 0 <br /> Mr Randall Stephenson <br /> Ultramar, Inc ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH <br /> 525 West Third Street PERMIT/SERVICES <br /> Hanford, California 93230 <br /> Subject Tank Closure Letter Report <br /> Beacon Station No 641, 1210 East Hammer Lane, Stockton, California <br /> Mr Stephenson <br /> At the request of Ultramar Inc (Ultramar), Horizon Environmental Inc (Horizon) performed soil <br /> sampling immediately following the removal of underground gasoline storage tanks (USTs) and <br /> associated product lanes at Beacon Station No 641 located at 1210 East Hammer Lane, Stockton, <br /> California (see Figure 1) The work performed included observing removal of the four USTs, <br /> collecting native soil samples from approximately 2 feet beneath the removed USTs, collecting <br />•� native soil samples from beneath the product line trenches and former product dispensers, <br /> collecting soil samples from areas of additional excavation, and collecting soil samples from <br /> excavated soil The purpose of this sampling was to evaluate for the presence of gasoline <br /> hydrocarbons in the soil from the former USTs the and the associated product lanes and <br /> dispensers at the site The work was performed as outlined in Horizon's Soil Management Plan <br /> dated June 10, 1996 and Horizon Field Procedures (Appendix A) <br /> Field work was conducted on June 11, 12, and 17, 1996 in accordance with the Horizon Site <br /> Safety Plan Walton Engineering of West Sacramento, California was onsite as a contractor to <br /> Ultramar and performed the UST removal and soil excavation Michael Kith and Harlin Knoll <br /> representing the San Joaquin County Public Health Services (SJCPHS), Environmental Health <br /> Division were onsite to observe the soil sampling <br /> Excavation and Sail Sampling <br /> On June 11 and 12, 1996, Horizon observed the removal of four 10,000-gallon gasoline USTs <br /> (T1 through T4) located in a common cavity, and observed the removal of the product lines and <br /> dispensers Each UST was observed to be of single-walled, steel construction and <br /> 5011 Golden Foothill Parkway Suite 7 • FI Dorado Hills CA 95762 • (916) 939-2170 • FAX(916)939-2172 <br /> PO Box 5283 • Bakersfield CA 93388 9 (805)589-8389 • FAX(805)589-1456 <br />
