The sample taken from the holding tank connected to <br /> the water supply well showed levels of carbon tetrachloride 290 ug/Lchloroform at 14 <br /> ug/L and arsenic at 8.3 ug/L. Two soil samples showed levels--of arsenic at 1,100 and <br /> 1,700 ug/kg. The laboratory analyses of the samples are enclosed for your reference. <br /> Historic operations at the Site have included seed treatment, grain handling and storage. <br /> The grain industry historically has used certain of the substances listed above to eradicate <br /> pests, and these substances may have been used in the past at the Site. The substances <br /> listed above are not currently used or stored at the Site. Based upon the company's past <br /> experience and upon existing information, we believe that the substances discovered may <br /> be associated with historic operations at the Site or from an off-site source and are not the <br /> result of a current release at the Site. <br /> Efforts are currently underway to determine the extent of the contamination and potential <br /> source areas.
