19 November 2007
AGE-NC Project No. 05-1306
2.6. PREPARATION OF REPORT OF FINDINGS
Results of the well installations and soil-vapor intrusion study will be presented in a report of
findings. The report will be in a format acceptable to the CVRWQCB and EIiD. and will be
reviewed and signed by a California Professional Geologist.
3.0. FIELD PROCEDURES
All field procedures will be overseen by an AGE representative under the supervision of a California
Registered Geologist. Procedures for the well installation, well development, sampling, soil vapor
probe boring advancement and sampling are described below.
3.1. DRILLING AND SOIL SAMPLING
Two boreholes (MW10 and MW 11) will be drilled to maximum depths of 25 feet and 28 feet bsg,
respectively, and one borehole (MW12) will be drilled to 35 feet bsg, utilizing a truck-mounted
hollow-stem drill rig with 8.25-inch diameter hollow-stem augers. Cuttings and resinate generated
.. during drilling activities will be containerized in properly labeled Department of Transportation
(DOT)-approved 55-gallon drums, and stored on-site in an area lacking public access. Disposal
alternatives will be evaluated based on results of soil and water analyses.
Relatively undisturbed soil samples will be collected from each boring at five-foot intervals with a
California modified split-spoon sampler fitted with three 2-inch diameter,6-inch long stainless steel
sleeves. Upon removal from the sampler, the sample sleeves will be separated with a knife. The
exposed ends of the second sleeve will be covered with Teflon sheets, capped and sealed with tape.
The soil in the remaining sleeves will be visually classified by an AGE geologist in accordance with
the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS), and field screened for the presence of volatile
organic compounds using an organic vapor meter(OVM)equipped with a photo ionization detector
(PID). Soil sample descriptions and OVM readings will be recorded on a log for each boring.
Following sample collection, each preserved sample sleeve will be labeled with the boring location,
depth, time, date and sampler's initials. Appropriately sealed and labeled samples will be placed in
a chilled container under ice and transported under chain-of-custody procedure to Kiffanalytical
laboratory.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
