EHD has a contract with the California State Water Resources <br /> Control Board to conduct a UST corrective action program. The above-referenced site was <br /> placed in the EHD Local Oversight Program (LOP)on July 10, 1997. <br /> A telephone conference was held on May 3, 2007, regarding this site. Participants were Margaret <br /> Lagorio and Harlin Knoll representing the EHD, Linda Huff representing Huff and Huff Inc., Dan <br /> Decker and James Taylor representing the Conti Group Companies Inc. Prior to the telephone <br /> conference the EHD had reviewed Corrective Action Report dated August 29, 2006, and ST <br /> Quarterly Reports for 2006. Since the telephone conference the EHD has reviewed the I and <br /> 2Nd Quarterly Reports for 2007. The reports were prepared and submitted by Advanced <br /> GeoEnvironmental, Inc.on your behalf. The EHD provides the following comments based on the <br /> telephone conference and our review of the reports. <br /> 1. In September 2045 a Corrective Action Plan (CAP)was implemented and approximately <br /> 1308 tons of diesel contaminated soil and approximately 1500 gallons of contaminated <br /> water were removed from the former UST area for proper disposal. Soil samples were <br /> collected from the bottom of the excavation and the stockpiled soil. The excavation <br /> required shoring so sidewall soil samples were not collected from the excavation. The <br /> analytical results of the three soil samples collected from the base of the excavation floor <br /> at approximately 26-28 feet below ground surface(bgs)ranged from less than 5 <br /> milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg)to 3500 mg/kg of total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel <br /> (TPH-diesel). The stockpile sample results ranged from 2500 mg/kg to 12,000 mglkg of <br /> TPH-diesel. This corrective action was appropriate for this site based on soil type, <br /> contaminant and depth to water. <br /> 2. Soil samples from soil boring S13-12, completed in June 2000, located east of the <br /> excavated area,were non-detect for TPN-diesel from 30 to 50 bgs. The soil results from <br /> SS-12 provide data to support vertical contamination delineation in the soil at the former <br /> UST location. <br /> 3. There are seven monitoring wells (MWs)located outside the excavation foot print that are <br /> being sampled quarterly. Six of the MWs are shallow wells with screen intervals across <br /> the water table, but one well (MW-7) is a deeper well with a screen interval from 30 to 35 <br /> feet bgs.
