Harding Way s
Stockton, CA
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHSIEHD) has recently re-
evaluated the analytical results of the soil results taken from beneath the underground storage tanks and
piping that were removed from this site on January 26, 1993.
The Jon Marshack's "Waste Classification and Water Quality Goals" document was used to interpret the
metals detected. Lead should undergo solubility testing in the pit which contained tanks #1,2,and 3 by using
the WET test utilizing deionized water as the extractant.
PHSIEHD suspects that the acetone deiected in sample P-5 is probably the result of a Iaboratory error;
however, the QAIQC from the laboratory `should have commented on this probability. The areas indicated
below will require further investigation due to their potential threat to groundwater.
The former waste oil tank pit shall undergo further investigation and analyses be performed for the detection
` of cadmium, chromium, and nickel using the deionized WET test utilizing deionized water as extractant.
The piping in Iocation of P-5 and P-6 needs further excavation and sampling for constituents toluene and i
BTEX, respectively.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Michael Collins, REHS, of my staff at (209)
468-0338.
.Yogi Khanna, M.D., M.P.H.
Health Officer
 f
Laurie A.
