SITE CODE: 1133
117 W. Harding Way
Stockton, CA., 95204
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division
(PHS-EHD) has reviewed the February 4, 1998 "Summary Report for Subsurface
Investigation" submitted by ATC on February 6, 1998 and has the following
comments.
Soil and groundwater samples collected on January 8, 1998 indicated that the
former leaking underground tank (UGT).has impacted the soil at 35.5 feet below
the surface....In.order to.confirm if the contaminants have impacted the shallow
groundwater beneath this site, PHS-EHD will require further investigation of the
groundwater and additional soil sampling to determine the lateral and vertical
extent of the soil and groundwater contamination.
At this time, groundwater in San Joaquin County is at or approaching its
historically highest levels. Sites where UGTs were in place during the historically
deepest first groundwater levels (Fall 1978 & 1979) will need to sample the soil
and groundwater from this depth during the site assessment phase of their
investigation.
Soil and groundwater samples for all future investigations should utilize EPA
Methods 8015m for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) as Stoddard Solvent,
Gasoline, and Diesel. Detection limits for soil analyses should be 1.0 mg/kg
(ppm). TPH groundwater samples should use a detection Iimit of 50.0 ug/I (ppb).
Soil analyses for the BTEX constituents shall utilize EPA Method 8020 and the
acceptable detection limits are 0.005.mg/kg (ppm). Groundwater samples shall
utilize detection limits of 0,5 ug/l (ppb).;_.MTBE.may be "scanned"...by 8020, but.
will need EPA Method 8260 confirmation..to.venfy the 8020 analysis.-
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Service
