The work was <br /> generally conducted as described in Kleinfelder's proposal/cost estimate titled "Proposal, <br /> Abandonment in Place, Underground Storage Tanks (USTs), Granite Construction Facility, <br /> 10500 South Harlan Road, French Camp, California," dated September 27, 1999. <br /> { BACKGROUND <br /> The site is located at 10500 South Harlan Road which runs parallel and just east of Interstate 5 in <br /> French Camp, California (see Plate 1). The subject site is currently an operating construction <br /> yard utilized by Granite Construction Company. The site consists of an office, shop area, fuel <br /> storage areas, batch plant, scales, silos, parking .areas, etc., for construction purposes. The <br /> surrounding areas are primarily light industrial and rural residential housing. Interstate 5 is <br /> located just west of the site. The location of the two existing USTs discussed in this report are <br /> situated in a tank cluster of seven tanks located south of a batch plant area at the Granite <br /> Construction yard. The area discussed within this document includes a tank cluster area located <br /> towards the eastern portion of the site within a yard area south of a batch plant. The tank cluster <br /> is immediately overlain with concrete.
