GRANITE CONSTRUCITON FACILITY
WKA No 2088 01
' May 12, 1991
' Page 3
' 10,000-Gallon Unleaded Gasoline Tanks
' Both 10,000-gallon unleaded gasoline tanks were of steel construction and appeared to be in good
condition No visible cracks or holes were observed in the tanks and only minor patches of rust
were noted along the bottoms of the tanks The soils around the tanks, however, contained noticeable
petroleum staining and odors One soil sample was obtained from beneath each end of each 10,000-
gallon tank Sample locations and depths are shown on Plate 1
Laboratory test results revealed TPH as gasoline concentrations ranging from 270 mg/kg to 5900
mg/kg, benzene concentrations ranging from 0 66 mg/kg to 70 mg/kg, toluene concentrations ranging
from 13 mg/kg to 630 mg/kg, ethylbenzene concentrations ranging from 7 5 mg/kg to 190 mg/kg,
and xylene concentrations ranging from 40 mg/kg to 230 mg/kg
2,000-Gallon Waste Oil Tank
The 2,000-gallon waste oil tank was of steel construction and appeared to be in good condition No
visible cracks or holes were observed in the tank and only minor patches of rust were noted along
the bottom of the tank The soils around the tank did not contain noticeable petroleum staining or
odors One soil sample was obtained from beneath each end of the tank Sample locations and
depths are shown on Plate 2
Laboratory test results for sample T5A, obtained from beneath the southern end of the former storage
g
tank, revealed non-detectable concentrations of TPH as gasoline and diesel, BTEX, PCBs and
halogenated solvents TPH as motor oil was detected at a concentration of 17 mg/kg Test results
for sample TSB, obtained from beneath the northern end of the former storage tank, revealed non-
detectable concentrations of TPH as gasoline, diesel, and motor oil, BTEX, PCBs, and halogenated
solvents Metals were either not detected or at background concentrations l
V
q
Product Pipeline and Dispenser Area
Soil samples P1, P2, and P3 were obtained from the former product pipeline trench, which formerly
contained both diesel and gasoline lines, at approximate 20-foot intervals along the trench (Plate 1)
One sample, P4, was obtained from beneath the former fuel dispenser'island The soils along the
pipeline trench did not contain noticeable petroleum staining or odors Moderate green staining and
petroleum odors were observed in the soils beneath the former dispenser island
WALLACE-KUHL
RecycWPvff SrASSOUATES EPIC
