r•
t 6 1991
August ,
ARCO Station No. 548
Soil borings will be terminated at the ground-water surface, and the vadose wells will be
constructed in the boring with thread-jointed. 4-inch-inner-diameter, Schr:dule 40 PVC
' casing. No chemical cements, glues, or solvents will be used in well construction. The
screened portion of each well will consist of factory-perforated casing with 4.020-inch-wide
slots. The well screen will extend from the total depth of the well to approximately 15 feet
M below grade. The actual screen interval will be based on field observations and sediments
encountered. The annular space in the well will be packed with sorted sand to a point
approximately 1 foot above the slotted interval. A bentonite plug will be added above the
sand pack to seal out cement. The remaining annulus will be backfilled to grade with a
' bentonite-cement slurry. The vadose wells will be protected by a traffic-rated, cast-
aluminum utility box.
Well Develo meat and Sampling
Applied GeoSystems will wait a minimum of 24 hours after well installation before
development of the groundwater monitoring wells to allow the grout to seal. Before
development of the monitoring wells,a water sample will be collected for subjective analysis
from near the water surface in the well with a Teflon bailer cleaned with a laboratory-grade
detergent and deionized water. If floating product is encountered in the well, the thickness
of the product will be measured with an interface probe and recorded and the water will not
Product will be bailed from the well and stored in
be sampled for chemical analysis.
appropriately labeled drums onsite. Applied GeoSystems will evaluate the disposal options
and apprise ARCO of these options.
_.__...----:---
AGS 3M-4 11
i.
