S <br /> Mr Kyle Christie Project 0805-140 03 <br /> • July 23, 1996 <br /> Page 4 <br /> USEPA Method 8080, polynuclear aromatics (PNAs) using USEPA Method <br /> 8100, and cadrnium, chromium, lead, nickel, and zinc using the Waste Extraction <br /> Test <br /> • Observe the removal of the existing product lines and dispensers Collect and <br /> analyze one soil sample every 20 linear feet below the former product lines and <br /> underneath the dispensers for TPHG, BTEX, and total lead Up to eight soil <br /> samples will be collected from the dispensers, and up to seven soil samples will <br /> be collected from beneath the product lines <br /> • EMCON will only collect soil samples from beneath the USTs and will not <br /> perform additional soil overexc,avation beneath the former UST Therefore, no <br /> sidewall samples will be collected <br /> • Soil generated during the removal of the gasoline USTs and product delivery <br /> lines will be segregated from the soil generated during the removal of the waste- <br /> oil tank Sods generated from the waste-oil tank excavation will be stored on site <br /> and placed on and covered with visqueen <br /> Additional Excavation and Soil Sampling <br /> o If warranted, observe additional excavation in the former waste oil tank cavity <br /> and former dispenser island locations if field evidence indicates hydrocarbons <br /> remain in place EMCON will excavate until (1) field screening data (using a <br /> photoionization detector [PID]) of soil samples collected from the base and <br /> sidewalls of the excavated area indicate soil containing relatively high <br /> concentrations of hydrocarbons have been removed, or (2) the safe operating <br /> limits of the equipment are reached <br /> • Soil samples will be collected from each sidewall of the waste oil tank excavation <br /> (if warranted) for a total of four sidewall soil samples and at the base of the <br /> excavations Soil samples will be subrrutted for the appropriate laboratory <br /> analyses EMCON is assuming that 100 cubic yards of soil will be generated from <br /> the excavation of the waste-oil tank <br /> Soil samples will be collected from the base of the excavation of the former <br /> dispenser islands for a total of four soil samples Soil samples will be submitted <br /> for the appropriate laboratory analyses EMCON is assuirung that 700 cubic <br /> yards of soil will be generated from the excavation of the former dispenser <br /> . islands <br /> SAC\N\PJM805\08051400 3 US 95 P15 1 <br />
