Emcon <br /> 1433 North Market Boulevard • Sacramento California 95834-1943• (916)928-3300• Fax(916)928-3341 <br /> October 5, 1995 <br /> Protect 0805-140 03 <br /> Mr Kyle Christie <br /> ARCO Products Company <br /> 2155 South Bascom, Suite 202 <br /> Campbell, Califoriva 95008 <br /> Re Interim Soil Remediation Plan and Well Installation Workplan Associated with the <br /> Removal and Replacement of the Underground Storage Tanks and Product Delivery <br /> Lines for ARCO Service Station No 548, Located at 1612 Hammer Lane, Stockton, <br /> California <br /> Dear Mr Christie <br /> At the request of ARCO Products Company (ARCO), EMCON has prepared this Interim <br /> Soil Remediation Plan (ISRP) and well installation workplan associated with the removal <br /> and replacement of the underground storage tanks (USTs) and product delivery lines The <br /> tank replacement is planned in conjunction with ARCO's facility upgrade The ISRP will <br /> also serve as a 30-day public review m the event that hydrocarbons are detected in soil <br /> beneath the USTs and product delivery lines, requiring additional excavation Prior to <br /> removing the USTs, EMCON will abandon two monitoring wells, if warranted, and will <br /> install two additional monitoring wells and one vapor extraction well (after the tanks are <br /> installed) This document summarizes work to date and presents proposed tasks associated <br /> with tank replacement, well abandonment and well installation activities at the subject site <br /> (see Figure 1) <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> From December 1990 through November 1993, RESNA Industries ([RESNA] formerly <br /> Applied GeoSystems) observed the drilling of 21 borings (B-1 through B-21), and the <br /> installation of five on-site groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-5), one off- <br /> site groundwater monitoring well (MW-6), and four vapor extraction wells (VW-1 through <br /> VW-4) (RESNA, June 26, 1992, Report No 30004-4, RESNA, June 21, 1993, Report <br /> No 30004-8, and RESNA, May 11, 1994, Report No 30004-8) The locations of soil <br /> borings, wells, and other site features are presented on Figure 2 Residual hydrocarbons <br /> were analytically identified in soil samples collected from the borings near the tank cavity <br /> Low concentrations of hydrocarbons were detected in soil samples collected from bonngs <br /> near the dispenser islands <br /> SACH 1ARC0105481DMGN108051400 3AS-95 wpt 3 <br />
