CAARAW
. October 14, 1993 Working To Restore Nature
ARCO Station No 548, Sacramento, California
 I
o Monitor the completion of the 10-inch-diameter boring as a 4-inch-diameter vapor-
extraction well by a licensed driller to approximately 45 feet bsg and the 8-inch-
diameter boring as a 2-inch-diameter monitoring well Typical well construction
designs are shown on Plates 3 and 4 We will develop and purge the morutoring
well.
o Collect four soil samples from the drill cuttings These samples will be composited
by the laboratory
o Submit four soil samples from each boring and the samples from the drill cuttings
to a laboratory for analyses of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg)
using modified Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method 8015 and benzene,
toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylene isomers (BTEX) using EPA Method 8020
In addition, the samples collected from the drill cuttings will also be analyzed for
total lead using EPA Method 7421 for soluble threshold limit concentration (Waste
Extraction Test), and corrosivity, ignitability, and reactivity to evaluate disposal
options.
o Contract a licensed surveyor to survey the location of the wells with respect to onsite
wells and the elevation of the wells with respect to mean sea level
o Interpret field and laboratory data to evaluate the extent of dissolved hydrocarbons
in groundwater downgradient of the site
o Prepare a Status Report that includes field and laboratory data and summarizes our
findings, conclusions, and recommendations With ARCO's authorization, the report
will be submitted to the appropriate regulatory agencies
RESNA will conduct the work in accordance with a Site Safety Plan that will be updated
for the work site The work will be performed according to the methods and procedures
described in RESNA's Work Plan No 30004-4W, dated August 8, 1991, and prepared using
the Central Valley Regional-Board Staff Recommendations for Initial Evaluation and
Investigation of Underground Tanks (Tri-Regional Recommendations), Appendix A of the
Tri-Regional Recommendations, and the Leaking Underground Fuel Tank Manual (LUFT)
as references The methods for installation and construction of vapor-extraction wells are
described in the attached Field Procedures Remediation of soil will not be performed
during this phase of work
We recommend copses of this addendum work plan be forwarded to Ms Mary Meays, San
Joaquin Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division, P O Box 2009, Stockton,
•
30004-1
300D4-lUW 2
