r Working To Restore Nature
3164 Gold Camp Drive,Suite 200
Rancho Cordova,CA 95670
Phone: (916) 852-6690
FAX: (916)852-6688
 I
September 13, 1993
Mr. Chuck Carmel
0 ARCO Products Company
P.Q. Box 5811
San Mateo, California 94402
Subject: Status Report, Second Quarter 1993, ARCO Service Station No. 0548, 1612
. Hammer Lane, Stockton, California.
Mr. Carmel:
At the request of ARCO Products Company (ARCO), RESNA Industries (RESNA) has
prepared this status report on the second quarter 1993 groundwater monitoring event at the
010 subject site (see Plate 1). EMCON Associates (EMCON) of Sacramento, California, was
contracted by ARCO to conduct the field work; EMCON subsequently forwarded their field
notes and the laboratory reports to RESNA. Field work included measuring depths to water
and collecting groundwater samples for subjective and laboratory analyses. RESNA used
these data to evaluate the direction and gradient of groundwater flow beneath the site. The
0 locations of the monitoring wells are shown on Plate 2.
BACKGROUND
Work performed prior to this quarter included drilling fourteen soil borings and installing
0 four groundwater monitoring wells and three vapor-extraction wells. Residual hydrocarbons
were analytically identified in soil samples collected from borings near the tank cavity.
Minor concentrations of hydrocarbons were detected in soil samples collected from soil
boring near the dispenser islands. Dissolved gasoline hydrocarbons have been analytically
identified in groundwater samples collected from monitoring well MW-1. Dissolved gasoline
• hydrocarbons were not detected in groundwater samples collected from the remaining wells.
On April 8 and 9, 1993, RESNA observed drilling of five soil borings (B-15 through B-19)
and construction of one groundwater monitoring well (W-5) at the site. Results of analyses
indicated gasoline hydrocarbons were not detected in the sample collected from the borings,
with the exception of one sample collected from 41.5 feet below grade in borings B-15.
0629cear
l! 30004-5
