A3
< Date: February 5,2004
Quarter: 4`h Quarter,2003
• The elevated reporting limits were the result of dilutions performed by the laboratory in order to
quantitate a target analyte(s).
Air samples collected on 10120103:
Based on the review of the analytical and hardcopy data (chain-of-custody records, blanks, dilutions, holding times,
LCSILCSD results,MS/MSD results, and surrogate recoveries),the data are acceptable as reported by the laboratory
with the following limitations:
• The reported results for toluene in the INF Total Air and the INF Cat Air should be considered
estimated because the primary and confirmation results differed by greater than 40%RPD.
• The elevated reporting limits were the result of dilutions performed by the laboratory in order to
quantitate a target analyte(s).
Air samples collected on 1.1/18103:
Based on the review of the analytical and hardcopy data (chain-of-custody records, blanks, dilutions, holding times,
LCS/LCSD results,MSIMSD results, and surrogate recoveries),the data are acceptable as reported by the laboratory
with the following limitations:
• The elevated reporting limits were the result of dilutions performed by the laboratory in order to quantitate a
target analyte(s).
. DISCUSSION:
Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), benzene, ethylbenzene, methyl tert-butyl ether(MtBE),and 1,2-
dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) were reported above method detection limits in groundwater samples collected from site
wells this quarter. Analyte concentrations were generally consistent with historical data with the following
exceptions: 1,2-DCA concentrations continue to decrease in MW-2. In VW-2, TPHg and 1,2-DCA concentrations
increased but remain within historic ranges and MtBE was reported above method detection limits for the first time
since December 2002. TPHg, benzene, and ethylbenzene concentrations increased but remain significantly below
historic high levels. MtBE concentrations decreased in VW-4 relative to the previous quarter. Groundwater
elevations generally decreased during this quarter with the exception of MW-6. The groundwater flow direction
ranged from the northeast to southwest with an average gradient of 0.004 to 0.033 ft/ft.
Four site visits were conducted to optimize and maintain the SVE/A The system run time meter stuck in
November, causing no change in run ti to -ember. Approxima y lbs f TPHg were removed during the fourth
quarter 2003, with a cumulative ma of lbs si a startup (09128100) The VE system operated in compliance with
the San Joaquin Valley Unified Airt!!:
ntrol District permit to operate.
•
K-lwpro ss'M BP ARCOW54MQuanerly\4 QTR 031546 GWMR 4Q03.doc Page 2
