The groundwater flow direction was calculated to be towards the east at an average gradient of 0.0029
ft/ft. An eastward groundwater flow direction is consistent with previous quarters. The groundwater
elevation has decreased approximately by 1 foot across the site since the previous sampling event (March
2001).
A Delta technician conducted six site visits to optimize and maintain the SVE/AS system. The SVE
system was found to be shutdown on 04/02/01 due to an inoperable blower. The system was restarted on
04/16/01 after replacing the blower. The system was found to be shutdown again on 04/29/01 due to
blower failure. The system was restarted on 05/03/01 after replacing the blower again. Approximately
167.5 lbs of TPHG as gasoline was removed during the second quarter 2001, and a cumulative mass of
862.10 lbs since startup (09128100). The AS s stem w started on 06/18/01 as free product was not
detected in well VW-5D for two consecutive weeks Delta will continue to monitor well VW-5D for free
product. If free product is detected, the AS system will be shut down. Delta will optimize the operation of
the SVE system by increasing flows, and therefore influent concentrations, by changing the vacuum and
flows from the individual wells. The SVE system was in compliance with San Joaquin Valley Unified Air
Pollution Control District permit to operate.
ATTACHMENTS:
• Table 1 Groundwater Monitoring Data
• Table 2 Groundwater Analytical Results for Oxygenates and Additional Compounds
• Table 3 Floating Product Monitoring Summary, Well VW-51D
• Table 4 Operational Uptime Information of the Soil Vapor Extraction System
• Table 5 Flow Rates and Analytical Results of Air Sample Analyses
• Table 6 Extraction and Emission Rates
• Figure 1 Site Topographic Map
• Figure 2 Groundwater Elevation Contours, 2"d Quarter 2001
.' • Figure 3 Groundwater Analytical Summary 2`d Quarter 2001
• Figure 4 Influent Concentrations vs Time
• Figure 5 Cumulative Mass Removed vs Time
• Appendix A Field Data Sheets
• Appendix B Sampling and Analysis Procedures
• Appendix C Certified Analytical Reports and Chain-of-Custody Records
CAIARC0105481QTRLY120011Arco-0548 2Q01Report.doc Delta
08/24/01
