Box 2009
1601 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95201
RE: BP Oil Site No. 11193
Hammer& Kelly
Stockton, CA
SITE CODE: 1129
Dear Mr. Sasson:
l
This letter transmits a report titled Groundwater Monitoring and Sampling Report, dated 15
January 1997 and responds to a letter from the`San Joaquin County Public Health Services
date stamped 7 February 1997.
The enclosed report summarizes groundwater monitoring data collecte&since 1992. Upon
review of the results associated with the most recent(l I November 1996) sampling event,
you will note that petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in samples collected from four of
the seven wells installed at this site. Consistent with the previous sampling events, the
highest concentrations were detected in samples obtained from wells MW-1 and MW-2,
located next to the underground storage tanks.
The San Joaquin County 7 February 1997 letter raised a number of concerns, which I will
address as follows:
f
1. Enclosed please find the soil boring and well completion diagrams for all of the wells at
the site. My records show that logs for wells MW-5 through MW-71 were submitted,,to
Mr. Mark Collins of San Joaquin County Public Health Services o28 September 994.
The logs were appended to Alisto Engineering Group's Supplemental Site Investi ation
Report, dated June, 1994. Let me know if you need another copy of the report and I will
send it to you.
{ 2. Your letter suggested that benzene and MTBE concentrations are rising in wells MW-1,
MW-2, and MW-5, and that annual sampling of wells MW-3, MW-4; and MW-5 may
result in missing the migration of MTBE in an upgradient direction.;,You will recall that
the highest benzene concentrations at this site have been detected in"samples obtained
s
