The sampling was conducted as part of the
investigation activity outlined in the Supplemental Investigative Work Plan dated February 25,
2000 prepared by Cambria Environmental Technology, Inc., for the site. The analytical results
evidenced 11 arts per billion of the contaminant Tert-Butanol (TBA). An additional water
evid p p
sample should be collected from this well to confirm contaminant concentrations.
PHS/EHD understands that Cal Trans is preparing to close this well. The well will be destroyed
under permit and inspection of PHSIEHD and according to San Joaquin County Well Standards.
PHSIEHD recommends that you contact Andy Stephens of Stephens Construction Company at
(209) 333-0136 to coordinate the sampling of the well. It maybe possible to sample the well just
prior to its destruction. At that time the submersible pump and any floating contaminants should
have been removed from the well. PHSIEHD recommends collecting the water sample with a
disposable bailer. The analytical results should be submitted to PHSIEHD with the next Quarterly
Monitoring Report for the above referenced site.
Contact Carol Oz, Senior REHS at(209) 468-3440 if you have questions regarding this letter.
Donna Heran, REHS,Director
Environmental Health Division
t Carol Oz, Senior REHS Margaret ago o,REHS
Site Mitigation unit IV Supervisor
cc: Marty Hartzell-CVRWQCB
Khaled Rahman-Cambria
Dave Camille-Tosco
Sayed Hashemyan-Cal Trans
Andy Stephens-Stephens Construction Co.
r
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
