To prevent road construction delays, please submit a work plan immediately to
EHD for the destruction of MW-12. Note that monitoring wells in areas of contamination
may only be destroyed by removing all of the well contents by drilling out the original
borehole and filling it with grout using a tremie pipe or equivalent.
EHD has reviewed Work Plan for Vertical and Lateral Delineation dated August 30, 2007,
prepared and submitted by SECOR International incorporated (SECOR) for the above-
referenced site on your behalf EHD directed SECOR to submit such a work plan to
investigate the lateral extent of impacted groundwater down-gradient of monitoring wells
MW-11 and MW-12, and the vertical extent of impacted groundwater onsite near cone 3
penetration testing(CPT) borings CPT-I and CPT-2.
In. the work plan SECOR proposes the installation of one deep groundwater monitoring
well located approximately midway between MW-3 and MW-9, and two off-site
monitoring wells, one located in the sidewalk on the east side of Kelley Drive
approximately 100 feet north of MW-12, and one located adjacent to the sidewalk on the
north side of West Hammer Lane approximately 200 feet southeast of MW-12.
SECOR will not be able to install the two proposed monitoring wells along Kelley Drive
and West Hammer Lane at this time. Upon completion of the road construction, please
submit an amended work plan based on current site conditions.
EHD approves the installation for the deep monitoring well located onsite. Stratigraphy
will be continuously logged from approximately 100 feet below ground surface (bgs) to
total depth (approximately 110 feet bgs) based on the depth of the water-bearing zone
consisting of coarse-grained soil.
