GETTLER - RYAN INC. <br /> nlav 1 s �flnj _ <br /> ENVIRON , <br /> PER VICE <br /> November 13, 2001 <br /> J <br /> Mr Edward C Ralston <br /> Phillips 66 Company <br /> 1380 Lead Hill Road, Suite 120 <br /> Roseville,California 95661 <br /> Subject: Remedial Status Report for Tosco(Former BP) Station No. 11193 <br /> 3202 West Hammer Lane,Stockton, California. <br /> Mr Ralston <br /> At the request of Tosco Corporation, a subsidiary of Phillips Petroleum Company (Tosco), Gettler-Ryan <br /> Inc (GR) has prepared this report to document groundwater sampling, purging and disposal conducted <br /> for the subject site Activities documented in this report were initially proposed in GR's Interim <br /> Migration Control Plan (IMCP), dated April, 19, 2000 The IMCP was conditionally approved by the <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services — Environmental Health Division (SJCPHS-EHD) in a <br /> written transmittal dated April 21, 2000 <br /> In an effort to reduce Methyl tertiary-Butyl Ether (MTBE) concentrations in groundwater beneath the <br />• underground storage tank (UST) pit, approximately 5,000 gallons of groundwater has been purged <br /> weekly from groundwater monitoring well MW-1 The effect of the groundwater removal on static <br /> groundwater levels in other monitoring wells in the vicinity was monitored during the initial purging <br /> event In addition, grab groundwater samples have been collected periodically to evaluate the <br /> effectiveness of groundwater removal in reducing MTBE concentrations in the UST pit area The <br /> analytical results are included in this status report <br /> GROUNDWATER REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL <br /> I <br /> Beginning on June 16, 2000, approximately 5,000 gallons of groundwater has been purged weekly from <br /> groundwater monitoring well MW-1 The groundwater was purged from MW-1 directly into vacuum <br /> trucks by Onyx Industrial Services (Onyx) of Benicia, California and transported to the Tosco Refinery <br /> in Rodeo, California for disposal From August 3, 2000 to October 2, 2001, approximately 274,800 <br /> gallons of groundwater were removed from the site Groundwater removal totals and dates are <br /> summarized in Table 1 The location of MW-1 is shown on Figure 1 <br /> GROUNDWATER SAMPLING <br /> Groundwater samples were collected periodically from MW-1 and additional wells at the site <br /> Groundwater samples are submitted under Chain of Custody for analysis by Sequoia Analytical (ELAP <br /> #1271) Groundwater samples are analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Gasoline (TPHg), <br /> benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX) and methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) by EPA <br /> Methods 8015 and 8020 The analytical results are summarized in Table 1 The Laboratory Analytical <br />.} Reports and Chain of Custody documents are attached <br /> 6747 Sierra Court , Suite J • Dublin , California 94568 ( 925 ) 551 - 7555 <br />
