Ms.Victoria McCartney,SJCEHD June 21,2013
Work Plan for Well Destruction Project No.2046-3250-01
Parkinson's I-5Arco, Stockton,California
Page 2
be capped flush with the ground surface using concrete. The neat cement/cement grout
seal will be placed in one continuous pour using a tremie.
Monitoring well MW-6 was constructed inside a 9-inch diameter steel conductor casing
installed in a 15-inch diameter boring. The well material inside the conductor casing will
be removed using 8-inch diameter augers to a total depth of 64 feet bgs, and the hole
sealed with neat cement/cement grout as described above. The area around the conductor
casing will be excavated to approximately 3 feet bgs and approximately 27 inches
diameter (12 inches larger than the 15-inch boring used to install the conductor). The
steel conductor and surrounding cement seal will be cut off approximately 6 inches above
the base of the excavation, and the excavation filled with at least one foot of neat
cement/cement grout.
Displaced groundwater will be captured and prevented from runoff. Displaced
groundwater and drilling waste will be placed in drums and stored at the site pending
disposal at an appropriately-licensed facility. Disposal characterization samples from the
wastewater and drill cuttings will be analyzed according to disposal facility requirements.
The drummed wastes will be transported by an appropriately-licensed contractor. Well
boxes and concrete debris will be disposed of as construction debris.
After receipt of laboratory reports and disposal certificates, Stratus will prepare a letter
report for submittal to SJCEHD and GeoTracker. If you have any questions regarding
this work plan, or the project in general, please contact Steve Carter by email at
scarter a,stratusinc.net, or by telephone at(530) 676-6008.
Sincerely,
5TRATU5 ENVIRONMENTAL, INC.
NAL G
tvphen.Cattcur
Allan Dudding Stephen J.
