This is a fuel leak LOP site with a
dissolved gasoline plume near in-use retail gasoline UST systems. Shaw proposed ozone microsparge for the
property.
I understand that the Central Valley has implemented a policy of greater caution regarding insitu oxidation,
whether by permanganate or ozone. I expect that there are concerns we'll need to address regarding the
potential for localized mobilization of metals.
Please get back to me next week so I can identify Board concerns and requirements, so that Shaw can cost-
effectively propose and approach to the responsible party that will satisfy the State of California's requirements.
Sincerely,
SHAW ENVIRONMENTAL, INC.
Dan Wynne, R.G., C.E.G., C.H.G.
Shaw Environmental, Inc.
1326 North Market Boulevard
Sacramento, CA 95834
tel 916-565-4184 fax 565-4356
From: Wynne, Dan
Sent: Friday, July 01, 2005 12:40 PM
To: 'vmccartney@sjcehd.com'
Cc: 'nhenderson@sjcehd.com'
Subject: re Parkinson's Arco Site Code 2224
Ms. McCarntney:
Thanks for sending out the conditional approval for the CAP that Shaw submitted last year for Jim Parkinson's
Parkinson's Arco, 3250 West Hammer Lane.
...got a question for you:
The County's letter requests contam mass estimates for various sorbed gasoline constituents, to be received by
Sept 14, 2005. The letter also requests a work plan for installation of a new monitoring well near the location of
CPT-3, due the same date.
We could give more accurate estimates for the sorbed constituent masses if we use data that we could collect
while doing the well-install near CPT-3 (ie, two soil samples from the targeted interval).
Would the County concur to Shaw submitting the contam mass calcs at the time of submission of a report for the
installation of the new monitoring well? This would likely be in October or November, not September 14.
However, you'll get a more reliable calculation of mass, and I don't think it will slow down progress on the critical
path toward site cleanup.
7/1/2005
