(Shaw). In this CAP, Shaw.
presents site conditions, soil and groundwater analytical results, and evaluates several
methods for site remediation, including natural attenuation and degradation, ozone
microsparging, and dual-phase extraction. Based upon cost consideration and possible.
expedition of site closure, Secor recommends ozone „microsparge as the remedial
alternative.
EHD concurs with Secor's recommendation to install an ozone microsparge system.
However, you must first get approval for the proposed ozone microsparging from the
Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB). Please contact
James Barton, P.G. at CVRWQCB for information by telephone at (916) 464-4615 or by
electronic mail atibaiton(cr-waterboards.ca.gov.
Review of site data leads EHD tochange its opinion stated by letter dated August 24,
2004. EHD now believes that further groundwater investigation is necessary to assess the
vertical extent of hydrocarbon contamination in the area of cone penetrometer test boring
CPT-3. Based on the detection of benzene at 57 feet below surface grade (bsg) in CPT-3
and the CPT-3 boring log, EHD recommends that a monitoring well screened in the thin
sand layer between 55 and 60 feet bsg be installed to assess vertical and lateral extent of
contamination. Please submit a work plan for monitoring this interval to EHD by
September 14, 2005.
To _assist in this site investigation, please provide contaminant mass estimates, with
assumptions and calculations, for. sorbed gasoline, benzene, and methyl tertiary-butyl
ether(MTBE) at this site. Submit the mass estimates to EHD by.September 14, 2005.
