(Shaw). Based upon the CPT groundwater analyticalresultsand the
soil analytical results for the deep boring advanced on May 22, 200 , {'1•i extent of
impacted groundwater and soil appears to have been delineated vertically at this site.-
Although
ite:Although lateral delineation down gradient of the methyl tertiary-butyl ether(MTBE)
plume has not been fully demonstrated, EHD does not believe that a monitoring well,
located on the east side of Kelley Drive and north of West Hammer Lane, is necessary at
this time. This decision is based, in part, on analytical results for monitoring well MW-7,
located near CPT-4, reported in Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report—First
Quarter 2004 prepared by Secor International Incorporated(Secor) for the 76 Service
Station located at 3202 West Hammer Lane. MW-7 is screened between 12.5 feet and
29.5 feet below surface grade, and current analytical data for petroleum hydrocarbons in
groundwater collected during the first quarter monitoring event were non-detect, except
for MTBE reported at 10 micrograms per liter. Also, EHD has approved a work plan
f o
submitted by Secor for the installation one monitoring well to be located on the
northeast corner of Kelley Drive and West Hammer Lane, inboard of the site of Shaw's
proposed monitoring well.
EHD recommends that you investigate the possibility of coordinating monitoring events
with the 3202 West Hammer Lane site and request that data from MW-7 and Secor's
proposed additional well be made available to you. If this cannot be done, EHD will
approve installation of your well. EHD believes it is more important and appropriate at
this time to move your site toward remediation; therefore, please prepare and submit a
corrective action plan to EHD by October 29, 2004.
