EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
- i
Parkinson's Arco
3250 West Hammer Lane
Stockton, California
The site is located on West Hammer Lane east of Interstate 5 in.Stockton, California.
The site is a privately owned Arco service station that has retailed gasoline fuel for
approximately 14 years.. To comply with State regulations, the product lines.and_
dispensers are being upgraded.
In accordance with the work plan on file with San Joaquin County Public Health
Department, Environmental Health Division(SJCPHD/EHD) dated January 10,2000
the following work will be performed:
1) perform limited excavation of hydrocarbon impacted soil;
2) sampling of soil beneath these facilities to evaluate the extent of petroleum
hydrocarbons in soil at the subject site;
3) sampling of groundwater(if encountered).
Work will be performed during weekday daylight hours. Earth moving equipment may
include a backhoe, a loader,and other equipment as appropriate. Upon excavation, soil
will be stockpiled onsite and covered with plastic for sampling and later disposal or
reuse. Stockpiled soil removal will be completed within 10 to 30 business days. It is
estimated that a maximum of 500 cubic yards of soil will be stockpiled. If stockpile soil
is initially clean, the contractor may reuse it at some other location onsite other than
disposing it at a suitable landfill,pending approval from SJCPHD/EHD. SJCPHD/EHD
and IT Corporation(IT)representatives will observe excavation activities. Following
completion of soil excavation the Site will be returned to a'.retail gasoline station.
Soil samples will be collected and analyzed per SJCPHD/EHD requirements. Upon
I;
receipt of soil sample results, IT will,prepare and submit to SJCPHD/EI4D a letter
report summarizing excavation activities and sampling results. Work is anticipated to
commence during January 2000.
