Ms Vicky McCartney Project No 880-040 IA <br /> December 8, 2003 <br /> Page 4 <br /> FIELD ACTIVITIES <br /> To evaluate the vertical and lateral extent of dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons and <br /> MtBE in groundwater, Shaw advanced four CPT borings at and in the vicinity of the site <br /> Prior to the initiation of fieldwork, drilling permits were obtained from the SJCEHD and <br /> an encroachment permit was obtained from the City of Stockton Copies of the permits <br /> (#35000, #35001, #35002, and #67769) are included in Attachment A Underground <br /> Service Alert (USA) was notified at least 48 hours prior to the commencement of field <br /> activities, and a private subsurface utility locating service was contracted to locate <br /> subsurface utilities at the boring locations <br /> A site-specific Health and Safety Plan was prepared in general accordance with 29 CFR <br /> 1910 120 and Tale 8, California Code of Regulations, Section 5192 The Health and <br /> Safety Plan included safety procedures for work to be performed at the site, chemical <br /> hazard information, site safety officers, and preferred medical emergency locations <br /> CPT Borings <br /> On September 2 and 3, 2003, Shaw observed the advancement of four CPT borings <br /> (CPT-1 through CPT-4) at the locations shown on Figure 2 The CPT borings were <br /> advanced to a total depth of 90 feet bgs Following the completion at each CPT boring, <br /> the rig was moved over approximately five feet and a hydropunch boring was advanced <br /> Four discrete water samples were collected from each hydropunch boring The <br /> groundwater samples were submitted to California Laboratory Services <br /> (CLS ELAP #1233) for the analysis of TPHg by U S Environmental Petroleum Agency <br /> (EPA) Method 8015GRO, BTEX by EPA Method 8021, and for DIPE, ETBE, MtBE, <br /> TAME, TBA, ethylene dibromide (EDB), and 1,2-di�chloroethane (1,2-DCA) by EPA <br /> Method 8260B The CPT and hydropunch borings filled with grout via tremmie pipe to <br /> the surface The borings are presented in Attachment Yp At the conclusion of the tests, <br /> the holes were grouted via tremmie pipe up to the surface The boring locations were <br /> N\aacDP\20031Pri18818800401A 3aa doc <br />
