IT Corporation <br /> 1326 North Market Boulevard <br /> Sacramento, CA 95834-1912 <br /> Tel 916 928 3300 <br /> ithe • ry Fix 916928.3.341 <br /> IUL�p i n A Ifemher of 1 he 17 Croup <br /> sv <br /> May 23, 2001 <br /> Project 880-040 1A <br /> Ms Margaret Lagono <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> 304 East Weber Avenue <br /> Stockton, California 95202 <br /> Re Second Quarter 2001 Groundwater Monitoring Report <br /> Parkinson's Hammer I-5 Arco <br /> 3250 West Hammer Lane <br /> Stockton, California <br /> Dear Ms Lagono <br /> On behalf of Mr Jim Parkinson of Parkinson's Hammer I-5 Arco, IT Corporation (IT) presents <br /> the results of the second quarter 2001 groundwater monitoring event at the site referenced above <br /> SITE BACKGROUND <br /> The site is located on West Hammer Lane east of Interstate 5 in Stockton, California The site is <br /> a privately owned Arco-branded service station that has retailed gasoline fuel for approximately <br /> 14 years The site currently contains three 12,000-gallon capacity gasoline underground storage <br /> tanks (USTs) and associated product lines and dispensers Diesel fuel has never been dispensed <br /> at the site <br /> Product line upgrade began on January 7, 2000 After the removal of dispenser plumbing, soil <br /> obviously impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons was discovered below the western dispenser <br /> islands Soil samples were collected from beneath the dispensers and along the product lines at a <br /> depth of approximately 3 5 feet below ground surface (bgs) <br /> Remedial activities conducted on January 26, 2000 included removal of approximately 262 tons <br /> of impacted soil in the area below dispenser and product lines Excavation areas were selected <br /> based upon the results of January 7, 2000 sampling Excavation was restricted laterally by <br /> concrete canopy footings and asphalt surfacing Maximum excavation depth was 10 feet bgs due <br /> to close proximity of groundwater Results of soil sampling and excavation were reported in IT's <br /> Product Line Upgrade and Soil Excavation Report dated March 15, 2000 The SJCPHS/EHD <br /> requested further delineation of soil and groundwater impacts in their Apnl 24, 2000 letter <br />
