Quik Stop'Market No. 132 Page 2
3555 West Hammer Lane June 5,2009
Stockton, California 95209
I
ATC proposes to advance borehole SB-5 approximately eight feet northeast of soil boring SB-1,
initially to an approximate depth of fifteen feet bsg. One soil sample is proposed to be collected
at the capillary fringe, and one grab groundwater sample is proposed to be collected at
approximately fifteen feet bsg. Then ATC proposes to advance the boring to approximately forty
feet bsg and collect a grab groundwater sample. Instead of the proposed boring, the EHD
believes a ,monitoring well should be installed adjacent to soil boring ATC-5, and screened
between approximately twenty and twenty-five feet bsg. Noting that MTBE was detected at 2,900 F
ug/L in a grab groundwater sample collected at twenty feet bsg from ATC-5, the EHD believes a
monitoring well will better address the possible plume migration down gradient of the source
area.
h
ATC proposes to continuously core borehole SB-6, approximately twenty feet southwest of i
borehole SB-2, to approximately forty feet bsg for lithological evaluation and field screening. 1
One soil sample is proposed to be collected at the capillary fringe at approximately tenfeet bsg or
ata depth identified to have significant volatile organic contamination based on readings from a
photo-ionization detector. ATC also proposes to collect additional soil samples for chemical
analysis if unsaturated soils are encountered between the shallow and deep groundwater zones.
ATC proposes to collect grab groundwater samples from the shallow zone of approximately
fifteen feet bsg, and from the deep zone of approximately forty feet bsg. The EHD approves the
advancement of SB-6 as described.
I
Please respond to concerns and recommendations presented in this letter to the EHD by August 3,
2009. If you have any questions regarding this letter, please contact Vicki McCartney at (209)
468-9852 or by email at vmccartney@sjcehd.com.
Sincerely,
Victoria L.
