a.J
•v AFAZZMA
Working to Restore Nature
42501 Albrae Street
Fremont, California 94538
Phone: (510) 440-3300
Fax: (510) 651-2233
November 24, 1992
Project No. F7132.34
Slate Family Enterprises, Inc.
P.O. Box 609
Lodi, CA 95241
Attention: Mr. Ronald D. Slate
Subject: Response to Letter Dated November 16, 1992
Regarding Soil and Groundwater Investigation at
Quik Stop Market No. 132, 3555 West Hammer Lane, Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Slate:
This letter is in response to your letter dated November 16, 1992 regarding our request to conduct
a soil and groundwater investigation on your property located at 3507 West Hammer Lane,
Stockton, California. I will answer your questions relating to this investigation in the order in
which they were stated
Out of Parking Lot by 10:30 a.m.
In our phone conversation of October 28, 1992 and my letter to you dated November 6, 1992,we
discussed your concern over impacting your business. During these communications, we
discussed a lunch period extending from 11:00 am. to 1:00 p.m. In your letter of November 16,
1992, you extended this time period from 10:30 am. to 2:00 p.m. As I stated,we will make every
effort to be out of the parking area as soon as possible. In light of the conditions, we expect to
find the 10:30 am. time limit should not be a problem but I cannot guarantee that we will be
finished by 10:30 am. From my previous investigations on this site, I have an idea of what
should be encountered during the drilling and installation operations. However, I do not know
what will be encountered during these operations. Unexpected conditions are not uncommon in
subsurface work, and once a well installation is started, installation and design procedures require
that it be done hr one step.. It is my intent(if operations proceed as expected) to install the fust well
in the parking lot and be finished with the installation by 10:30 a.m. After this installation is
complete, drilling operations will be moved out of the parking lot to the joint Taco Bell/Burger
King driveway and begin the drilling and installation of the second monitoring well. If this second
well installation proceeds as expected,we should be completely of the site well before 4:30 p.m.
