(ATC) for the above-referenced site on your behalf. The work plan was
submitted in response to an EHD letter dated June 5, 2009, concerning the
. advancement of three soil borings (SB-4, SB-5, and SB-6).
In the work plan, ATC proposes to relocate soil boring SB-4 directly south in an area '
midway between the two north dispenser islands. ATC justified the new location for
SB-4 based on a site plan by Exceltech, Inc. (Exceltech) dated September 18, 1990,
obtained from the EHD. Unfortunately, the site plan provided by the EHD was not very
legible and the proposed location for SB-4 is where boring QS-1 (not QS-2) was
c. advanced on October 12, 1990. The EHD is including another site map (Plate 4) titled
TPHG Contamination above 11 Peet Depth in PPM, prepared by RESNA Industries Inc.
(RESNA), formerly known as Exceltech. According to information on the site plan
` prepared by RESNA, the source for this map was taken from the Exceltech report 3-
49132-41 dated November 29, 1990. This map by RESNA, prepared after soil borings
QS-1, QS-2, and QS-3 were advanced on October 12, 1990, clearly demonstrates that
boring QS-2 was advanced northwest of the north dispensers and approximately twelve
1"' feet northeast of boring B-5, and approximately eight feet northwest of boring B-3. Since
the site map submitted by Exceltech was dated prior to when soil samples were
collected from QS-2, the site map prepared by RESNA appears to be the more accurate
a. of the two site maps. Please resubmit the revised location for advancing SB-4 based on
the site map from RESNA.
Although ATC did not provide technical justification for collecting grab groundwater
samples from soil boring SB-4 at fifteen and forty feet below surface grade (bsg) and soil f
samples at the capillary fringe, the EHD approves the collection of these soil and
groundwater samples to assess residual contamination in the approximate area of QS-2.
.. f
L.
i
i
V
