(i.e,,the north end of the pump island). ATC proposes to advance two(2)soil borings(designated SB-4
and SB-5)to an approximate depth orl'approximately 15 feet bgs. One soil temple will be collected from
each of the two proposed borings at'the capillary fringe, and one groundwater sample will be collected
from each boring at approximately 15 feet bgs. Borings SB-4 and'SB.5 will then be advanced to 40 feet it k
bgs, and groundwater samples will be collected from the bottoms of those borings using Hydropunch
techniques. One(1)additional boring(BB-6)will be continuously cored to a depth of approximately 40.feet
logs; a soil sample will be collected at the capillary fringe from this boring. Depth discrete groundwater
samples will also be collected from the shallow zone(from approximately 15 feet bgs)and the deep zone
(from approximately 40 feet bgs)at boring SB-6.
The,anticipated scope of work is as follows.
SCOPE OF WORK
rya Task 1 Pre-field ActivitiesIHASP
This'task includes all the activities related to pre-mobilization, permits, site clearance and site Specific
Health and Safety Plan(HASP)preparation. The drilling permit will'be obtained from SJCEHD.Awork
plan is also required for-submittal with the drilling permit application. The borehole locations Will be
Marked with white paint and Underground Service Alert,(USA)will be notified at least 48 hours prior to
initiating drilling activities toallow time forutility companies to identify underground lines, pipes, orcables
that may be affected by the drilling activities. Apriyate utility locator will also be retained to ensure that the
proposed locations do not conflict with underground utility locations, A HASP will be prepared for the
subject Site investigation based an requirements of Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations(CFR)
'
Section 1920.1200),the California General Industry Safety Order(GISO)and Title 8,California Code of
Regulations (CCR) Section 5192. A copy of the HASP will be oh-site during the course of the field
activities.
Task 2. Drilling/Soil and Groundwater Sampling/Sample Analysis
ATC.WIII utilize hand-augertechniques to clear the proposed boring locationsto approximately 5 feet bgs.
All drilling and sampling activities will be performed consistent with ATVs standard operating procedures
(Att I ac,hment 1).
The locations of the proposed borings are illustrated on Figure 1,Proposed Boring Location Map.The soil
borings will be drilled using a track-mounted,direct push(Geoprobe)drilling rig. Drilling will be conducted
by a California C57-licensed drilling company. An ATC field scientist, underthe responsible charge of a
California registered professional engineer or geologist,Will log the borings and collect soil samples. ATC
'proposes to advance threa,soil borings(SB-4, SB-5 and SB-6)at the locations.presented in Figure 1.
During drilling of borings B-4 and B-5,an approximately 1.5-inch diameter borehole will be advanced and
logged to an.approximate depth Of 15 feet bgs (approximately 2 to 13 feet, below first encountered 11
groundwater). Sol[samples, will be collected just above the watertable(i.e.,at approximately 10 feet bgs)
Ci or where elevated PID readings indicate the presence of impact.
