W
s
k
tt
Quik Stop Market No. 132
Job No. 349132-32 October 30, 1940
Page 1
PHASE 3
WORK PLAN FOR SOIL AND GROUNDWATER
INVESTIGATION
AT
QUIK STOP MARKET NO. 132
f 3555 W. HAMMER LANE
STOCKTON, .CALIFORNIA
Exceltech, Inc,, proposes the drilling and sampling of four exploratory borings and
c-.%iverting them to groundwater monitoring wells at Quik Stop Market No. 132 at 3555
W. Hammer Lane,
Stockton, California (,Figure 1). If these wells do not define the
s extent of the groundwater contamination, Exceltech is prepared to proceed with
i installing additional wells to define the limits of contamination. Quik Stop Markets has
expressed to Exceltech its desire to begin words as soon as possible upon issuance of the
proper permits.
; i
SITE HISTORY
x
Quik Stop Market No. 132 formerly utilized three underground fuel-storage tanks on-
site; two 10,000_gailon tanks contained regular unleaded and leaded gasoline and one
8.000-gallon tank contained super unleaded gasoline. In 1987, Exceltech installed a
# j vadose monitoring system around .the tanks at the site, This s stem detected
hydrocarbon contamination in July 1990. Gasoline contaminated fill was found in the
p EG4
lined trenches; containing the product lines. The contaminated backfill has been
j removed from the trenches. Soil samples were collected and analyzed for gasoline
comDonents.' The results of the analysis revealed that hydrocarbons have
sail adjacent to the east half of the product line trench which serves thpenetrated
no nth purrtae
island.
?^; Exceltech drilled four exploratory borings and converted one of them to a groundwater
i s monitoring well on August 23,; 1990. The results of soil analysis of the soil samples
from three borings showed little or no petroleum hydrocarbon contamination. One
boring near the northwest portion of the north pump island, contained 460 parts per
million (ppm) total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHG . The groundwater
from monitoring well MW-1 contained 470 arts ) g. dwppbr
p per billion (ppb) TPHG and 21 ppb
.
ben benzene as well as detectable-levels of toluene;ethyl benzene, and total xylenes.
Or., September.14 12, and 13, 1990, Exceltech drilled five exploratory borings and
converted three of thein to groundwater monitoring wells, monitoring groundwater
located in a "lower" sandy unit. The results of soil analysis of the soil samples from
these borings showed little or no petroleum hydrocarbon contamination. 'Analysis of
t.-
