HAMMER LANE
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA a
e
Presented below ars the results of the soil and groundwater investigation conduct
ed by
Exceltech, Inc. for Quik Stop Markets. The Quik Stop is located 3555 W. Hammer
Lane,Stockton,California(Figure 1).
F:
y BACKGROUND
Quik Stop Market No. 132 currently utilizes three underground fuel-storage tanks on-site;
fG two 10,000-gallon tanks contain regular unleaded and leaded gasoline and one 8,000-gallon
tank contains super unleaded gasoline. In 1987,Exceltech installed a vadose monitoring
system around the tanks at the site. This system detected hydrocarbon contamination in
.iuly 1990. Gasoline contaminated fill was found in the lined trenches containing the
: product lines. The contaminated backfill has
samples were collected an been removed from the trenches. Soil fl
d analyzed for gasoline components. The results of the analysis
revealed that hydrocarbons have penetrated the soil adjacent to the east half of the product
line trench which serves the north pump island.
r SCOPE OF WORK
cThe purpose of the investigation was to preliminarily evaluate the extent of hydrocarbon
oncentration on the site by assessing subsurface soil and groundwater conditions.
1 .<xceltech accomplished the following:
4 S e Explored subsurface soil conditions by.drilling, logging, and sampling nine
exploratory borings.
•_- -Obtained soil sarnples'which were analyzed for the presence of total petroleum
- -
hydrocarbon as gasoline(TPHG); benzene, toluene,ethyl benzene,and xylenes
f (BTEX);and total lead.
x
• Installed groundwater rncnitoring wells in four boreholes.
Developed and sampled the groundwater monitoring wells and analyzed for
.
TPHGBTEX.
s
