(ATC) is pleased to present this letter report summarizing the installation of
one additional groundwater monitoring well at the above referenced site. A site plan showing the
location of the building, adjacent streets, groundwater monitoring wells, and other site-specific
features is included as Figure I in Appendix A.
BACKGROUND
In 1987, Exceltech installed a vadose monitoring system around the three existing gasoline
underground storage tanks (USTs). In July 1990, a leak was detected in the vicinity of the
' gasoline USTs. Subsequent excavation around the product lines indicated the presence of
hydrocarbon impacted soil.
' Between August 23, and September 13, 1990, Exceltech completed an initial site assessment
consisting of the completion of five soil borings (B-1, B-2, B-3, B-4 and B-5) and the installation
' of four groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1, MW-2, MW-3 and MW-4). The soil and
groundwater samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-G) and
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX) in accordance with EPA Test Methods 8015
and 8020, respectively. TPH-G was present in at least one soil sample obtained from B-3 and B-
' H',SLEHRMAN%QS_132_W\REPORTS\WELLLE rERREPORT.doc
