Ms. Carol Oz 5
December 17, 1999
The soil in the two remaining tubes was examined for lithology (when complete sample recovery
occurred). All pertinent field data were recorded on the boring log. Soil characteristics were
' described using visual and field methods according to the Unified Soil Classification System
(USCS).
1i
The soil boring was converted to a groundwater monitoring well (MW-8). A copy of the
approved San Joaquin County Public Health Services Well Permit Application Form is included as
Appendix C. Copies of the approved City of Stockton Department of Public Works Application
' For Encroachment On Public Right-Of-Way and City of Stockton Revocable Permit are included
as Appendix D. The groundwater monitoring well was completed using 2-inch diameter,
Schedule-40, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) casing. The well was set with a ten-foot section of 0.010-
inch slotted screen set at the bottom of the well (see boring log for specific depths and screen
interval). Number 2112 sand was used as filter pack surrounding the well screen as appropriate.
A three foot bentonite seal (hydrated bentonite chips) was added on top of the sand. The annular
space above the bentonite seal was filled with bentonite grout. The monitoring well was secured
at the surface with a flush-mounted, traffic-rated protection box. Construction details are
presented on the boring log (Appendix B).
On December 9, 1999, the newly installed groundwater monitoring well was surveyed by
Siegfried Engineering of Stockton, California. A copy of well survey data is included in
Appendix E.
The soil samples were analyzed for TPH-G in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified,
BTEX in accordance with EPA Method 8020, and fuel oxygenates including tert-butanol, MTBE,
jDIPE, ETBE and TAME in accordance with EPA Method 8260.
' Laboratory analytical results indicated that TPH-G, BTEX, and fuel oxygenates were not detected
in any of the soil samples. The analytical results for the soil samples are presented in Table 1 and
' Table 2 in Appendix F. A copy of the signed laboratory analytical report and chain-of-custody
forms are included as Appendix G.
r
•
