Working to Restore Nature
Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring, Fourth Quarter 1993 February 2, 1994
Quik Stop Market No 132, Stockton, California F7132 93
interpreted the groundwater gradient and flow directions for the upper and lower aquifers,
as shown on Plates 3 and 4, respectively In the local upper aquifer, the groundwater level
rose an average of 0 15 foot, ranging from 0 07 foot in well MW-6 to 0 23 foot in well
MW-7 In the local lower aquifer, the groundwater level dropped an average of 0 11 foot,
ranging from 0 03 foot in well MW-3 to 0 17 foot in well MW-2 The apparent groundwater
flow direction in the local upper aquifer is to the southeast at a gradient of approximately
0 007 (Plate 3) The apparent groundwater flow direction in the local lower aquifer is to
the east-southeast at a gradient of approximately 0 003 (Plate 4) These groundwater flow
directions and gradients are similar to those observed last quarter (RESNA, December 1,
1993)
Laboratory analyses of the water sample collected from well MW-5 before pumping on
November 10, 1993, (sample MW-5A) indicated TPHg and toluene were detected at
concentrations of 100 parts per billion (ppb) and 0 55 ppb, respectively Laboratory analyses
of the water sample collected from well MW-5 after pumping (sample MW-5B) indicated
toluene and total xylenes were detected at concentrations of 0 56 ppb and 11 ppb,
respectively Laboratory analyses of water sample collected on December 17, 1993,
indicated that TPHg and BTEX were not detected in any of the sampled monitoring wells
Wells MW-3 and MW-4 were not sampled because they are located upgradient of the
underground storage tanks, and historically TPHg and BTEX have not been detected in the
groundwater from these wells The next quarterly groundwater sampling will be conducted
in March 1994
Reporting Requirements
RESNA recommends a that copy this report be forwarded by Quik Stop Markets, Inc, to
the following agencies
Mr Michael Collins, R E H S
Environmental Health Specialist
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
P O Box 2009
Stockton, California 95201
Ms Elizabeth Thayer
California Regional Water Quality Control Board
Central Valley Region
3443 Routier Road
Sacramento, California 95827-3098
3
