1 Quik Stop Market No. 132 July 28, 1992
Project No. 3-49132-33 Page 3
' Conclusions
At a depth of approximately 8 to 14 feet, there appears to be a transition from a less
' dense, more porous soil to a more dense, less porous soil. This information compares
favorably with the cross sections constructed for the Phase III Investigation conducted
at this site (Exceltech, Inc. 1991) included here as Figures 3, 4, and 5. No direct or
indirect evidence has been obtained to indicate the presence of a perched aquifer in the
areas sampled in this survey. This information would indicate that the perched aquifer
is linuted in extent and isolated from the lower aquifer.
Recommendations
RESNA recommends the installation of two groundwater monitoring wells in a
downgradient direction from monitoring well MW-5 (which monitors the perched
aquifer). As shown on Figure 6, one monitoring well would be located as close to
' being directly downgradient as practical. This well would be installed in the parking
area on the north side of the Taco Bell building. The other monitoring well would be
installed on the west side of the east driveway. The installation of monitoring wells in
these locations would provide valuable stratigraphic information and allow
downgradient monitoring of the aquifer located beneath the perched aquifer. Obtaining
access for the installation of the wells located on the Taco Bell property will require the
assistance of the SJCPHS.
Reporting Requirements
Quik Stop Markets, Inc. should forward a copy of this report to the following agencies
in a timely manner:
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
445 North San Joaquin Street
Stockton, California 95201
Attention: Mr. Steven K. Schneider, R.E.H.S.
Environmental Health Specialist
j
California Regional Water Quality Control Board
' Central Valley Region
3443 Routier Road
Sacramento, California 95827
